Geany doesn’t have full hd access on MacOS
Whenever I wanted to save a file on Desktop, an error message “Could not read the contents of Desktop Error opening directory ‘/Users/username/Desktop’: Operation not permitted” would show.

3.4 Click the [+] sign →
3.5 Navigate to “/bin/bash”, and add it
3.5.1 If you can’t see hidden files, press [Shift + CMD + .]. 3.6 Restart Geany and Done
